What is a poster session?

A poster session is a graphic presentation of an author's research. Authors illustrate their study findings by displaying graphs, photos, diagrams, and a small amount of text on poster boards.

General aim and format

A poster is a graphically based approach to presenting research. In presenting your research with a poster, you should aim to use the poster as a means for generating active discussion of the research.

Limit the text to about one-fourth of the poster space, and use "visuals" (graphs, photographs, schematics, maps, etc.) to tell your "story."

Design specifications

  • The entire poster should be mounted on foam-core board for best display.
  • The board must be oriented in the "landscape" position or "portrait" position.
  • The board should not exceed 3' by 4'.
  • A stand will be provided on which you can display your poster board.
