Trauma Informed Practice with Immigrant and Second Generation Youth Students - 1.5 CEUs

Description and Goals:
This webinar will provide trauma specific interventions with immigrant youth and their families. This webinar will provide information about factors leading to the incorporation of immigrant youth. In addition, we will discuss the mental health impact of immigration, undocumented status, and refugee status, and potential sources of trauma. We will discuss trauma informed care, and body based interventions that help with processing trauma and developing internal safety. This webinar will also discuss developing trauma informed schools with the needs of immigrant students in mind. Specific practice skills and resources will be provided in addition to recommendations for Tier 1 interventions.
1. Learn the factors the lead to successful incorporation of immigrant youth into schools and community.
2. Learn and apply trauma informed care strategies to interventions with immigrant youth and their families.
3. Understand key practices for developing trauma informed schools with needs of immigrant students in mind.
